Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Star as Mark Kerr in New Film

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is set to take on the role of Mark Kerr, the two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, in an upcoming film titled “The Smashing Machine.” The movie will be written and directed by Benny Safdie, known for his work on “Uncut Gems,” and will be financed by A24, the same studio behind the acclaimed film “The Iron Claw” about the Von Erich family.

Mark Kerr earned his fearsome nickname, “The Smashing Machine,” due to his aggressive fighting style inside the Octagon. In the film, Johnson will portray Kerr, while the talented Emily Blunt will portray Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples.

In addition to his film endeavors, The Rock will also make an appearance at WrestleMania 40, teaming up with Roman Reigns to face off against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on the opening night of the highly anticipated event.

According to a report from Pwinsider, “The Smashing Machine” is scheduled to begin production on May 1, 2024, with a projected three-month filming period that will conclude on August 1, 2024. The movie will be filmed in various locations, including Los Angeles, New Mexico, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
